The Evergreen College Mess.

HBO has a short video on the controversy at Evergreen College. (LANGUAGE WARNING! NSFW)

Generally speaking, being on the other side of the country, we really wanted to stay out of this self inflicted disaster by liberals and progressives. When you have students holding the president of the college hostage to the point where he cannot go to the bathroom, there is something wrong with you. When you tell professors that they must be racists and support segregation, there is something wrong with you. When you believe that you have the right to be heard but no one else has that right, you have a problem.

When the inmates are running the asylum, you have a problem.

You have to wonder what this type of anarchy and stupidity is doing to the college’s enrollment. What parent wants to spend big bucks on a college degree only to have the campus shut down or have their child subjected to the pure evil hatred that is prevalent at this college.

Graduation day at Evergreen State College. Racial tensions bubble over to protests at Evergreen State College resulting in protests that lead to questions on how the University is handling.

Quick Hits: Gators, Cocoa Beach, Religion And Cakes.

We haven’t done one of these posts in awhile. Many times we see things we want to write or comment on, but the item just doesn’t have enough “meat” to make a full post (in our opinion.) So here are a couple of things we looked at:

The Florida Gators won their first ever national championship in baseball the other day. The Gators swept SEC rival LSU in the championship series and walked away with the trophy. Many LSU fans were upset with an interference call against the Tigers in the bottom of the seventh inning which cost them a run, but the call was correct. It seems that the days of being a gracious loser are gone and people have to blame everyone else. (The Gators first two runs of the game were unearned due to LSU errors. Should we blame the companies who made their gloves?)

Anyway, while not as impressive as the Maryland Terps winning the NCAA Lacrosse Championship, congratulations to the Gators and their fans.

The Ocean Dunes case in Cocoa Beach was heard last week before an appellate board. Each side was given ten minutes to present their case and to field questions for the judges on the panel. Trying to read outcome from the questions and the tone of the discussions is like trying to pick a winner in the Kentucky Derby four years before the race is run. You just don’t know. However, reports from our ninjas say that the plaintiffs were happy and thought the judges understood their points and were asking the questions that bolstered their side.

“You Will Tell Your Friends To Read RoH……You Will Tell Your Friends To Read RoH….”

Hypnosis: that’s just a fun gimmick for stage shows and plot twists, right? Well, turns out there might be more to it.

Just 4 years watching sports?

How much time does the average person spend cleaning their elephants?
No clue, but we do know you’ll spend at least 6 years eating and drinking.

Who Doesn’t Like Pixar Animation?

Whether you like the story or not is one thing. But the Pixar Animation Studios took what was almost a dying art form and brought it back to life. The moment we say the bouncing desk lamp, we knew that something great could come forward.

And it did.

NOTE: The video above also has the trailer for Cars 3.

Baltimore Businesses Want Accountability. Taxpayers Will Probably Pay The Bill.

You may remember the riots in Baltimore, MD after the death of Freddie Gray in 2015.

What initially started out as peaceful protests turned into full scale riots where people were assaulted and property was destroyed.

The Mayor of Baltimore at the time Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, (in)famously said:

“It’s a very delicate balancing act. Because while we try to make sure that they were protected from the cars and other things that were going on, we also gave those who wished to destroy space to do that as well. And we worked very hard to keep that balance and to put ourselves in the best position to de-escalate. (emphasis ours)

Media and the country jumped on her comment wondering why people needed the “space to destroy?” Isn’t that what the police should protect against?

Rawlings-Blake later said her comments were misconstrued and mischaracterized and her office released another statement:

What she is saying within this statement was that there was an effort to give the peaceful demonstrators room to conduct their peaceful protests on Saturday. Unfortunately, as a result of providing the peaceful demonstrators with the space to share their message, that also meant that those seeking to incite violence also had the space to operate. The police sought to balance the rights of the peaceful demonstrators against the need to step in against those who were seeking to create violence.

The mayor is not saying that she asked police to give space to people who sought to create violence. Any suggestion otherwise would be a misinterpretation of her statement.

The statement clarification was just as bad as the original statement. It seemed the Mayor was condoning the violence in the city and its destruction.

In an “after action” report by the police union, the police accused the City government of such things as to not stop people from causing damage to property, arrests had to be cleared by civilian lawyers, gas masks were either not distributed or had expired canisters, commanders told policemen not to wear gloves because of the image it created as well as being told not to move to stop the violence.

While the Mayor disputed the accusations by the police, Delegate Curt Anderson (D) said:

The Smell Of The Grill.

(courtesy of Jake Likes Onions.)

The best part about this cartoon is that the artist gets the grill right. He shows a charcoal grill – not a wimpy ridiculous outdoor stove run by propane. If you want to cook with gas, just stay indoors.
