Honorary Staff Member Passes Away.

We have spoken sometimes about the “elderly mother” of a staff member here that was essentially our language filter. If people used language here that she deemed “offensive” such as four letter words (but not ideas) she would “tsk tsk” and say “that is not something someone would use in polite society.”

Her voice was that which set the tone of the civil debate and comments we try to foster around here.

Sadly, according to the staff member, the mother passed away last Monday after a rather long battle with health issues.

She epitomized the “southern lady,” having been born and raised in rural Virginia. She went through the Great Depression, watched her husband go off to war in the Pacific in World War Two, raised two kids, and bookended the raising of the two kids with a successful career in the business world. She volunteered with many organizations throughout her long life, finally having to stop when the physical strain became too much to continue.

Hers was a life well lived that impacted others.

We will continue to honor her by keeping the same level of discourse here on the blog.

We all will miss her and offer condolences to her friends and family.
