R.I.P. Stan Lee.

Stan Lee, creator of Marvel Comics and what is called the “Marvel Comics Universe” passed away this past Monday. It is difficult to imagine how many people Lee touched with his work, and even more difficult to know how many people he inspired through his characters and his art.

We have often thought that the best writers and artists are those who can take you to another place – to suspend reality for a bit. Even historical authors and artists that depict people and times from the past can do that. Reality is so, so….so real, and the ability to suspend reality – even for a second – and transport you to another time and place in your mind is a talent not many people have.

Lee’s characters will live on, but he will be missed.

“I used to be embarrassed because I was just a comic book writer while other people were building bridges or going on to medical careers. And then I began to realize: entertainment is one of the most important things in people’s lives. Without it, they might go off the deep end. I feel that if you’re able to entertain, you’re doing a good thing.” – Stan Lee.
