Slade – Merry Christmas Everybody.

From a 1973 episode of the British show “Top of the Pops” comes Slade’s “Merry Christmas Everybody.”

We had never heard of this song until a few years ago, but have found the music to be infectious in many ways. It is one of those songs that if you are out and the crowds or a family gathering is starting to nag at you, you can sing this and you’ll feel better again.

Sadly, Robbie Williams thought that it would be a good idea to turn this song into some sort of big band sound rendition.

There are times when singers and performers need someone to step in and say “no……just no.”

In our opinion, this is one of those times.

We’ll take bell bottoms, mutton chops, spandex and long hair over this version any day.

Now, please excuse us as we are going to go back and listen to Slade’s version in an attempt to get Williams’ version out of our head.
