Number One Fan Wins Big At Tournament!

If you have been listening to the Steve Bussey Radio Experience on WMEL AM 1300 on Saturdays between 2 and 4 PM, you know that one of our favorite listeners and callers is a young 8 year old out in Colorado. Every Saturday, she attends a tae kwon do class in the morning, and then comes home to listen to the show. Sometimes the topics are a little over her head, but the mere fact she listens and calls in shows a great deal of maturity for a young lady of that age.

This past weekend, she wasn’t able to catch the show as she was competing in a large tae kwon do tournament. We gave a “shout out” to her on the show, wishing her luck and hoped she would do her best.

Turns out her “best” was pretty darn good.

Our number one fan won a gold medal for form, a gold medal for board breaking, and a silver medal in the sparring competition.

That is just plain impressive.

We here at Raised on Hoecakes want to acknowledge her success and wish her continued success in tae kwon do and other things in her life.

It just goes to show that working hard and listening to us on the radio will bring achievements in life.

Way to go, Number One Fan!

On The Road And On The Air.

A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Radio Station.

On Friday, we mentioned our friend and fellow blogger Steve Bussey was returning to the airwaves on WMEL.

What we didn’t mention was that we had worked with Steve previously and had been asked to help him in the production of the “Steve Bussey Radio Experience Ver 2.0.” We were planning on helping with the sound board, research and screening calls.

That is not what happened. Through a series of rather interesting turn of events, we ended up going on the air with Steve during an extra hour, and ended up staying on the air with Steve until 5 P.M.

We can honestly say that it was a great deal of fun. We can also say we have come to the realization that we are not Edward R. Murrow.

It is amazing to sit in front of a microphone and realize your voice is being broadcast over the airwaves to a area surrounding the station, and even more amazing when you realize that you are broadcasting to the four corners of the earth via the internet.

The powers that be and the audience seemed to enjoy the show a great deal and the Steve Bussey Radio Experience Ver 2.0 will return this weekend. Sitting in the chair next to him with a mic will be your humble blogger – me.

What does this mean to you? It can mean a couple of things. First, you can listen via the radio or the internet to a good radio show. Secondly, you can participate in the show and have your voice and opinion broadcast to the world. Unlike the big “hitters” such as Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, or whomever, your chances of getting through and being heard with us are very good.

If you have an idea or comment, we are going to listen. If you agree with what we are saying and want to voice your agreement, you can do that as well. If you disagree, (and why you would do that is beyond us) you can call in and we will point out where you are wrong. (Just kidding.)

(Sort of.)

So look for us on the radio and the internet this coming Saturday. We’ll have a reminder for you on Friday, but plan ahead now.

The Return Of The Steve Bussey Radio Experience.
