The Truth.

The night of the Oscars, (which had a dip in ratings to a 9 year low), the New York Times decided to run an ad during the show on “the Truth.”

Clearly this was in response to the attacks against the media by President Donald Trump. After all, the Times admitted their coverage of Trump was biased during the election. When Trump called out the media on some of their reporting, the media has been pushing back.

This ad was part of that push back:

The ad states that “the truth is more important now than ever.”

What a crock.

The Times thinks that when it comes to “the truth,” their reporting “the truth” can take a holiday. When you agree with someone ideology, reporting the “truth” doesn’t matter. When you disagree, well then suddenly you have to rush in like a knight in shining armor to report the “truth” even when you have admitted that you didn’t report the “truth” in the past.

We have had conversations around here concerning the media and “truth.” It used to be well known that newspapers, radio stations, TV stations, etc all had biases. What has changed over time is that media have now adopted the less than truthful slogans say they are the purveyors of truth to the masses. Every media outlet does it. “Trust us” has become the mantra of the media even when they have shown that people should be skeptical of what they say, write and voice.

(Heck, we hope that you are skeptical of what we write on this blog. We try to be honest as we can, but we want you to use what we say as a jumping off point to look at other outlets and other sources.)

So the New Times has suddenly discovered “the truth.”

Yeah. Right.

We don’t believe them and neither does the NRA which produced this little ad in response to the Times’ ad:

The New York Times placed an ad during the Oscars to tell us that the truth is more important now. But why now? The truth is that the truth didn’t matter to The New York Times then as much as now—because as long as liberals were “progressing,” the truth was depressing. America has stopped looking to The New York Times for the truth, now more than ever. The times are burning and the media elites have been caught holding the match.

The media has no one to blame for their issues with public trust other than themselves.

And that’s the truth.
