There Are Times When You Wonder About Governmental Reaction To COVID.

There are times when you have to wonder about governments’ reaction to COVID.

In this case, you have to wonder if California has lost their collective minds.

On the California website discussing and encouraging people to get vaccinated as well as take the booster shot, there is this:

Booster shots

Booster shots of the Pfizer vaccine are now recommended if you:

  • Got a Pfizer vaccination at least six months ago, and
  • Are 65 or older, or
  • Are a long-term care resident that is 18 or older, or
  • Are 50-64 and have an underlying medical condition, or
  • Are 50-64 and at increased risk due to social inequity (including that of communities of color)

You may also consider getting a booster if you:

  • Are 18-49 and have an underlying medical condition or are at increased risk due to social inequity, or
  • Are 18-64 and work or live in a high-risk setting (like a shelter)
  • The CDC defines high-risk jobs as:

  • First responders (healthcare workers, firefighters, police, congregate care staff)
  • Education staff (teachers, support staff, daycare workers)
  • Food and agriculture workers
  • Manufacturing workers
  • Corrections workers
  • U.S. Postal Service workers
  • Public transit workers
  • Grocery store workers

(emphasis ours)

We’re not biologists, and we didn’t stay at an Holiday Inn Express last night, but we are pretty sure that the little nasty COVID cells don’t care or give one iota as to a person’s perceived “social inequity.”

When governments start to bring in things like “social inequity” in fighting a pandemic where an individual can easily get a vaccination no matter what race, creed, color, marital status, sex, or income they are, it makes us wonder how serious COVID is and the how seriously governments are taking the efforts to fight it.

We are not saying that people should not get vaccinated or get a booster shot. What we are saying is that COVID is a medical pandemic, not a “social justice” crusade.

The virus doesn’t care about “social justice.” The vaccine doesn’t care about “social justice.” The hypodermic needle injecting the vaccine doesn’t care about “social justice.”

We have said this before and will say it again: there are people – and now governments – that will always seek to divide Americans rather than bring them together.

A medical pandemic is something that we should ban together on. Instead, we have seen COVID used as a a political weapon by those who intentionally seek to keep the nation divided.

That includes states like California who believe that COVID is a social issue and not a medical one.

I believe this is just a psychological ploy to get more black Americans to take the jab. Right now black Americans are one of the demographics that are showing reluctance to get the vaccine, they also are a demographic that has a large percentage that feels they have been held back by “social inequity” (still not sure exactly what that even means). Hence if the government recognizes and politicizes your victim hood you will comply and get the vaccine.

As you mention, shame on the government for playing social justice politics with a medical issue.
