World Lacrosse Championships!

Lacrosse-World-Championships---ROHWhile some of the sporting world will be turning their attention to a game where the participants are more actors than players, where the actual sport is watching the grass grow, and where putting the ball in the goal is rare, the 2014 World Lacrosse Championships will be taking place until July 19, 2014 in Denver, Colorado.

The Championship opened play with the US beating arch rival Canada 10 – 7 on Thursday night.

Nine new countries will be a part of the 38 team tournament where 142 games will be played over 10 days. Two of the new nations competing are teams from China and Uganda.

In addition to the FIL World Championship, more than 150 teams are already registered for the boys’ youth and men’s elite/master’s World Festivals, which will be held in conjunction with the world championship at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

Holy face dodge Batman! That’s a lot of games!

If you are in the Denver area, we hope that you’ll stop by. Tickets are more than reasonable including total packages for all of the games.

Failing to visit the mile high city, the ESPN family of networks are going to be carrying a lot of the games, including all of the games involving the United States as well as a good chunk of the games from Canada and the Iroquois Nation.

The ESPN schedule can be found here.

The “Blue Division” has most of the best teams with Australia, Canada, England, Iroquois Nationals, Japan and the United States in that division.

We are hoping that this will get us through our lacrosse withdrawal until next spring, but we sort of doubt it.

Oh, and in case you are wondering, we are going to be unabashedly rooting for the red, white and blue of the United States.
